Minister Farage: "Dismantle Labor and Meretz and Form a New Party" Israel today

The Minister for Regional Cooperation, Issawi Farage, said today at a cultural event in Rishon Lezion: "Meretz and Labor are no longer relevant as separate parties" • Labor Secretary: "The Labor Party is not a branch of Meretz"

The Minister for Regional Cooperation, Issawi Farage, said today at a cultural event in Rishon Lezion that "Meretz and Labor should be disbanded and a new Social Democratic party established."

Fridge thus joined his party chairman, Nitzan Horowitz, who said yesterday that "Meretz and Labor should run together in the next election," and Labor chairman Meirav Michaeli who said that "we must stop scattering and splitting in the Social Democratic camp."

"We have to look in the mirror, Meretz and Labor are no longer relevant as separate parties," Farage said.

"Through the Geveld campaign, we will not grow - it is enough to make fun of ourselves. We need a new party, not a union as it were, but to dismantle and build something new with a joint census and joint primaries for the Speaker and Knesset members."

Minister Farage added: "Our partners in the government know that Meretz will not resign in any case, because we do not want to see Ben Gvir as Minister of Justice or Minister of the Interior. We know that we will not resign because the alternative is monstrous, scary and bad for Jews, Arabs and the state. "For themselves, to pull the rug to bad places. Instead of strengthening the government, they are creating a political campaign in the form of approving construction in the settlements, including in isolated localities and outposts. It is not natural multiplication, it is a finger in the eye."

Against the background of growing talk of a possible merger between the Labor Party and Meretz, Labor Secretary Eran Hermoni yesterday criticized the chairman of his party, Michaeli, who stated in favor of a union on the left: "The Labor Party is not a Meretz branch. For a narrow and marginal niche, "said Hermoni.

"It requires us to initiate unions towards the center and establish a large framework that fights for power, and not a marginal framework with Meretz.

"The mission of the Labor Party is to be a leading movement that promotes an agenda of a center-left Zionist, national and social. A movement that deals with the core issues of the State of Israel and is home to a wide and diverse public. It could never happen with Meretz, we were already in this film. "It is smaller than its parts and it prevents the Labor Party from being in its natural political and ideological box. Meretz offers us a honey trap, and I expect Michaeli to make it unequivocally clear that she opposes unification with it."
